Lab Technicians

Lab Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.

Responsible for testing in-process and finished biodiesel batches for key points quality testing, assessment and quality verification of incoming feed oils and chemicals and documentation of all results. Controls and reports all testing and verification of plant samples for batch reactions and production adjustments. Evaluates finished product for shipment, and participates in Certificate of Analysis testing for all daily composite shipments to various customers following specifications set forth by ASTM, AOCS and EN. Lab Technician will be available to participate in research and development projects, including (but not limited to) evaluation of new feed oils, chemicals, changes in laboratory or plant process procedures, etc. Lab Technician is responsible for reporting and document control of plant and laboratory shift change reports and distributing daily site inventory reports to management. They will maintain a clean and safe work area at all times with consideration to sample integrity. Lab Technician may be called upon by Lab Manager or Plant Manager to contribute or modify laboratory standard operating procedures as needed.

Lab Technician must routinely review and adhere to all safety training and procedures set forth by management and outside regulating agencies.

An ideal candidate will have working knowledge of chemical lab, safety and materials handling and good lab practices. They will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience working in a production environment with high activity levels is beneficial; ability to multitask and give acute attention to detail is essential. Ability in basic chemical lab tasks is required (titrations, pipetting, measurement, pH, sample preparation) with experience in an analytical chemistry lab preferred. Knowledge of GC-MS, ICP-AES, UV-VIS preferred but not required. Familiarity working in the food industry a plus.
